Houston, Texas: Stephen F. Austin High School Houston ISD
"In 2011, our district looked at nine different solutions that were approved as part of the state's Supplemental Science Materials adoption and we decided on Adaptive Curriculum," Timothy J. Johnson, a science teacher now in his 28th year of teaching and science department chair at Austin High School, said. "I liked that the program has a lot of built-in formative assessment and that it gives immediate feedback to the student and teacher, alike. Another thing that stood out for me is that it has several features to support English language learners (ELLs), which is important for our population here in Houston."

Houston, Texas: Andy Dekaney High School, Spring ISD
"In 2011, we didn't get an allotment from the state for science textbooks. Instead, it was for supplemental materials," Sonya Simon, science department chair at Dekaney High School and a teacher for 13 years, said. "We chose Adaptive Curriculum because we wanted something innovative that would provide students with hands-on activities, individualization, and real-time feedback and assessment."

Cypress, Texas: Cypress Springs High School, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
"I use AC Science in all four of my chemistry classes. It aligns well with what we teach," Mark Breerwood, the chemistry team leader at Cypress Springs High School and a teacher for 22 years. He estimates that his classes spend about 20 percent of their time working on the online program. "I like to use AC Science to introduce and reinforce concepts, and to assess student learning. I also give students time to work on the program individually. A key benefit is that it gives students the ability to control the pace of their learning to meet their needs."
