Birmingham, Alabama - NSTA's 2007 Southern Area Conference was held on December 6-8.
An Adaptive Curriculum Exhibitor Workshop titled Learning Objects and Science Education: Starting with Pandas enabled attendees teaching grades 6-8 to learn about web-based Activity Objects.
Dr. Peter Rillero first assisted attendees in designing a habitat to protect the endangered Giant Panda and then participants explored other middle school science online learning objects. The expanding collection of over 80 science learning objects feature interactivity, superb 3-D animations, and engaging contexts. Co-presenter Dr. Helen Padgett shared the Adaptive Curriculum flexible online environment, MyAdaptiveSpace, containing simple, intuitive tools for managing instruction. MyAdaptiveSpace offers teachers a place to plan their lessons, assign Activity Objects to their students and track achievement through assessment reports.
